When you see sporadic volume hit a contract like we did on $BP, you always want to check the open interest the next morning. We did see a pretty meaningful change in open interest after the fact, especially relative to the volume that came through, which told us a good amount of that activity stuck. The prints were also coming in different sizes, so it did not really look like the same order just getting recycled. That is what had me leaning toward adds at the time. You can make assumptions off the tape, volume, and fills, but the next morning OI update is what confirms it. Until that number updates, you never really know how much of the volume was actually opening activity when you have multiple prints.
