I’ve been looking into DigiDollar lately, and I think it’s one of those things that sounds more interesting and complicated than it actually is. DigiDollar ($DD) is a USD-pegged stablecoin built on DigiByte ($DGB). It uses DGB as on-chain collateral. You lock DGB into the system and can mint DigiDollar, giving you a stable asset while your DGB remains locked under the protocol’s rules. Now imagine this for a second. You have 2 oranges 🍊🍊 Those oranges are valuable to you, but you don’t want to sell them. Imagine you could lock those oranges somewhere as collateral and receive something representing stable value that you could actually use. Your oranges remain locked as collateral, while you now have another form of value you can transfer or use. That’s the basic idea I find interesting about DigiDollar. Except instead of oranges, the collateral is DGB. And instead of a physical voucher, you get a digital asset designed to maintain a USD peg. This opens up some interesting possibilities for DigiByte. And that’s one of the reasons I’m interested in adding DigiDollar support to Owni Wallet. Still learning. Still building. 💙
